Christmas this year offered not only a recharge of batteries, but also a well timed opportunity to ooh and ahh at some serious creative talent. The Dulwich Picture Gallery is one of my favourite galleries, not least because it’s situated in the village that I was born.
The Amazing World of Escher is quite simply an astounding collection and boasts to be the “first major UK show of work by the great Dutch master draughtsman, bringing together works which made him one of the most famous artists of the 20th Century.”
The precision and attention to detail is breathtaking; the playful and impossible environments and artworks astonishing. On show are woodcuts, lithographs, drawings, watercolours and mezzotints, as well as exclusive archive material.
The exhibition’s on til the 17th of Jan, but due to its popularity the gallery is operating a timed entry system.
Book your slot and go. You won’t be disappointed.
