White Ribbon Day

White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement engaging men and boys to end men’s violence against women and girls. It promotes gender equality and creates new opportunities for men to build positive, healthy and respectful relationships.

White Ribbon UK is the leading national charity for this crucial cause. Their mission is to prevent violence against women and girls by addressing its root causes. They aim to change long established, harmful attitudes, systems and behaviours around masculinity that perpetuate gender inequality and men’s violence against women. White Ribbon UK’s work is preventative, aiming to end violence before it starts.

Last Friday, White Ribbon Day, I was proud to attend the Voices of Women vigil at The Milton Keynes Rose, which began sixteen days of activism.

We stood surrounded by powerful stories of incredible bravery, despite the pain in the telling.

Last month Milton Keynes City Council achieved WhiteRibbon status and pledges to make Milton Keynes the first new White Ribbon city.

So proud to live and work in Milton Keynes.
