This week, our Managing Director Al delivered a keynote speech at the Everything Digital event in Liverpool, organised by Innovate UK. The event focused on fostering robust conversations about the digital and tech sectors in Liverpool, while showcasing support systems for the region’s burgeoning tech industry.

Throughout the day, presentations and panel discussions highlighted Liverpool’s significant potential in the tech and digital spheres. The city boasts a vibrant community of innovators, with various support systems in place, including Innovate UK, Lyva Labs, and Baltic Ventures, among others.

Yellowyoyo played a crucial role in the event, with Al sharing insights on navigating the ever-changing landscape of tech and digital innovation. Drawing from his experience in the media industry, he offered valuable perspectives on how businesses should approach their digital and technology strategies. He also provided guidance for tech companies on developing strategies to offer new products and services to potential customers and the importance of identifying and creating their business ecosystem to ensure that they can scale their business and attract funding.

While the event showcased Liverpool’s strengths, it also underscored the need for continued development of the city’s digital and tech business ecosystem. Speakers and panelists agreed that there’s still work to be done to create a more collaborative and cohesive environment. Key areas of focus included:

  • Bringing various support groups together to form a unified business ecosystem
  • Fostering partnerships between the private sector and civic leaders
  • Supporting not only startups but also scale-ups that have moved beyond the initial development phase

The panel discussion delved into ideas for achieving these goals, addressing challenges, and exploring ways for the private sector to engage more effectively with public authorities. The ultimate aim is to create a thriving tech and digital growth economy in the region.

A crucial point emphasised during the discussions was the importance of focusing on youth education and entrepreneurship. Participants stressed the need to equip young people with essential business skills from an early age, better preparing them for future potential entrepreneurial ventures. By integrating entrepreneurship education into school curricula and creating more opportunities for hands-on business experience, Liverpool can cultivate a new generation of tech-savvy entrepreneurs. This proactive approach not only enhances the city’s future talent pool but also ensures that young innovators are well-prepared to navigate the challenges of starting and scaling businesses in the digital age.

The success of the Everything Digital event has prompted Innovate UK to commit to holding more sessions in Liverpool, including another digital event next year. Building on the momentum generated by the event, we’re eager to collaborate more closely with key players within Liverpool’s business ecosystem, to contribute to the goal of elevating Liverpool’s tech industry to prominence on both national and global stages and work to help established tech companies reach their full potential.

As Liverpool continues to nurture its digital and tech sectors, events like Everything Digital play a vital role in fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and driving economic growth. By bringing together innovators, support organisations, and civic leaders, Liverpool is positioning itself as a hub for digital innovation and technological advancement.

The road ahead may have its challenges, but with the collective efforts of all companies working to support tech SMEs, and the vital support of organisations like Innovate UK to help early startup ventures get off the ground, Liverpool’s digital future looks bright. As the city works towards creating a more integrated and supportive ecosystem for tech businesses, it’s clear that the potential for economic growth and innovation is substantial. We’re excited to be at the heart of these conversations.

We’d like to thank Innovate UK, for including us in this event and we look forward to collaborating with them again in the near future.
