Celebrating International Women’s Day in Milton Keynes

7 March 2025

I’m a proud committee member of Women in Enterprise, and I was honoured to part of the team that brought this incredible International Women’s Day MK celebration to life, alongside NatWest Business.

The event was a powerful mix of inspiration, energy, and purpose, filled with unforgettable moments and a real sense of community.

There were so many standout highlights for me:

  • Sharing the day with my daughter Amber Wright – one of my greatest successes.
  • Taking part in a flashmob – bucket list, tick!
  • Jaz Ampaw-Farr’s keynote was electrifying – her mix of humour and wisdom left us all inspired to be 10% braver.
  • Spoken word artist Melonie Barnaby reminded us that creativity isn’t just about making art – t’s about making space.
  • The Financial Empowerment panel, chaired by Ife Thomas, featured Sarah Watt, Lesley Thomas, Enfys Maloney, and Ria-Jaine Lincoln MAAT, offering invaluable, practical insights.
  • Dr Allan Perry’s moving patient journey on behalf of PJ Care, the event’s headline sponsor – unforgettable.
  • Hearing from the Women Leaders panel, as they celebrated an incredible 10 years of impact.
  • And perhaps the most emotional moment – when the amount raised for the MK Community Foundation’s Women’s Fund was announced. Safe to say, there were tears!

A huge thank you to Heidi Thomas, Michelle Theuma, and Debbie Lewis, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make this event such a success. Yes, I played my part, but these three did the heavy lifting!

It was also fantastic to see so many local businesses and charities showcasing their work, including Yellowyoyo’s wonderful client Candice Mason, alongside Worktree, Harry’s Rainbow, Lindsay McInnis, Maya Dattani, Cerus Botanical Designs, Q:alliance, MK Community Foundation, Women Leaders, and many more.

💜 The biggest takeaway?

The power of connection, collaboration, and collective action.

We left with a shared ambition—not just to talk, but to #AccelerateAction.

Because when women rise, we all rise.
